Mark 10:15kjv
‘Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. ‘
The call for us to receive the kingdom of God as a little child, can he be suggesting that we must trust him as they so willing trust us as their parents. Can he be challenging us to deepen our love for him, a love that sees our children continually loving us even after being corrected for disobedience?
And what of their longing to continually be by our side, is that the message he wishes for us to replicate in our lives for us to be earnestly seeking to have him as our constant companion. When our children find themselves feeling afraid they always cry out to us and when physical ills and pains grip their bodies they wish for us never to leave their side.
Is the Savior telling us that when the challenges feel so burdensome, and the confusion and doubt gives rise to the fear that we should never feel alone, that we are only a prayer away from receiving his counsel. Can it also be said that he is admonishing us to hold fast to him as we face the travails of this mortal life.
And can it simply be that he wants us never to forget that our Heavenly Father is our Father and all that, that relationship implies with respect to his Love for us is always and will be forever open to us if we come to him with a broken heart and contrite spirit. Leaning not to our understanding but following his counsel and setting our lives on the course of his example.
Following his example will only lead to us developing and strengthening our true selves as individuals and our divine relationship with him, he who is Our Heavenly Father.
